Living with Autism Radio Interviews

On a recent segment of the talk-show program Life, Love, and Health, Christopher Springmann interviewed two experts on autism: Scott Fargo of the Indianapolis Easter Seals Crossroads, and Cathy Pratt of the IRCA. In the 8-minute clip, Scott and Cathy discuss the study Living with Autism, in which parents of children with autism and parents of children of typically developing children were surveyed about their quality of life and concerns for the future.

Living along the autism spectrum: what does it mean to have autism or Asperger syndrome? is a video by Daniel Gottlieb, Robert A Naseef, and Stephen M Shore. The documentary shows the perspective persons with autism through a discussion with Shore, who is on the spectrum and a professional expert on ASDs. According to IRCA Director Cathy Pratt: "The DVD provides valuable insight into the range of emotions experienced in connection with an autism diagnosis and covers topics that can be used to generate important discussions."

Understanding Brothers and Sisters

Understanding Brothers and Sisters on the Autism Spectrum is a four program DVD for siblings of children on the autism spectrum and their parents. Each program is arranged for different age levels which can help siblings understand autism spectrum better. Program one deals with puppets and explains autism to children ages four to seven. Program two includes interviews and narrations for siblings by siblings, ages seven to twelve. Program three is for siblings ages twelve to adulthood. This program includes interviews and narrations. The final program is for parents. It includes interviews and narrations by parents.

Overall, Understanding Brothers and Sisters is an excellent way for children o be introduced to autism and begin to understand their siblings a little better.
