Training for Indiana's First Responders

The Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA) believes in the importance of awareness training about autism spectrum disorders for first responders.   IRCA is committed to supporting the training of law enforcement officers, fire fighters, EMT’s and other first responders. To address this need, IRCA has worked closely with Answers for Autism in Indiana, to receive partial funding for the development of the original training materials in 2006 and the subsequent updating of materials now available.

TEACCH® 5-DAY CLASSROOM TRAINING: SETUP MODEL

On June 13-17, 2016, the Indiana Resource Center for Autism in collaboration with RISE Learning Center and Southside Special Services of Marion County will be presenting a TEACCH® 5-day classroom training in Indianapolis, IN.

"This five-day course provides a theoretical foundation as well as hands-on opportunities to assess and teach elementary through high school-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a model classroom setting. It is grounded in an understanding of the learning styles of individuals with ASD and how to use teaching strategies that capitalize on learning strengths."

Training for Indiana's First Responders

The Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA) believes in the importance of awareness training about autism spectrum disorders for first responders. To address this need, IRCA has worked closely with Answers for Autism in Indiana, to receive partial funding for the development of the original training materials in 2006 and the subsequent updating of materials now available in 2015.

The Training for Indiana’s First Responders kit is now available for loan from the Center for Disability Information and Referral (CeDIR). Funds for Attending Trainings

The Consumer Investment Fund (CIF) implemented by the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities (GPCPD) can help individuals with disabilities and family members with funding to participate in educational events. Educational activities include conferences, workshops, and other training formats as well as attendance at public forums, hearings, and task force meetings.

Looking for a Functional Analysis Workshop?

Dr. Brian Iwata will conduct a two-day workshop, “Functional Analysis & Treatment of Severe Behavior Disorders,” October 18-19, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

All attending will receive a certificate of attendance. BCBAs and BCaBAs will receive 12 Type II CE credits and Psychologists will receive 11 CE Credits.

"I"ing for Communication

The iPad has revolutionized the augmentative communication world and the way Speech Language Pathologists deliver articulation and language therapy to students and individuals. Despite easy access, we need to know the range of applications, how to judge and apply the technologies that are available, how to integrate the application and make them work in the world of learning.

The Institute’s Indiana Resource Center for Autism, in conjunction with Hamilton-Boone-Madison Special Services Cooperative, is offering six training opportunities in the months of August and September.

Attendees will be able to:
· Identify how to use the devices for augmenting communication;
· Learn how technology can create content, share knowledge and build and support relationships;
· Learn how to incorporate technology into articulation and language therapy;
· Identify the applications for augmentative communication including those that focus on core vocabulary; and
· Identify the applications for articulation and language therapies.
